Infertility

Can someone please help me understand these results

I had my HSG scan a few weeks ago, I have been referred for IVF as a 37 year old single woman.

I had a gyna appt yesterday and he said my tubes were clear, great. However he said the results of my day 21 bloods were bad, showing a number 1. It was only when the nurse looked at the screen that she pointed out he was incorrect and they were actually 19, so things are good. What do these numbers mean and is 19 good? I was such a mixture of emotions because one minute he was telling me it was unlikely I was ovulating, the next we are good to go!

I haven't had a very good experience with this hospital to date.

Thank you in advance

19 follicles?

Hi I believe they usually look for a number over 30 to indicate that ovulation has happened so 19 is low and suggests either you didn't ovulate that month or ovulated late?
(It's nothing to do with follicles)

@raindropsinspring thanks, I didn't want to read and run but I didn't understand it.

I believe they are looking at progesterone levels and anything over 10 indicates that ovulation has occurred. So the results are good, no?

Did you have the test on day 21 or seven days after ovulation? They do look for levels over 30, but if you didn’t ovulate seven days ago then the results would be different.

19 was my Day 21 result. On the computer screen it said anything between 1 and 16 means ovulation was unlikely to have occured.

When did you ovulate? Was it around day 14? 19 could mean either that you have low progesterone levels following ovulation or that you have ovulated at a different time. Day 21 tests shouldn’t actually be carried out on day 21 for women who don’t ovulate around day 14.

I would look into going somewhere else particularly as you have not had a good experience with this hospital to date. It is fair to say that some subfertility units both private and NHS are far better than others.

A result of 19 would indicate non ovulation for that month.

Yeh how long is your normal cycle? See mine is around 31-36 days long so I never ovulate on the "standard" day 14. So like the person said above...if you ovulate later than the 14th it might not be bad? Did the nurse/doc say anything?

Nobody really explained it to me at all. He showed me the test results which stated anything between 1 and 16 indicate it is likely that ovulation did not occur. As mine was 19 he was happy with this but according to here it isn't that great.

Call me crazy but how do I know when I ovulate, home test?

How long is your cycle normally? That will give you a rough guide. If it’s 28 days then it’s likely you ovulate around day 14, though it may still be a few days out. You can monitor precisely with a home ovulation test.

Can you remember how many days there were between when you had the blood test and when your period started?
