FSH 10 at age 28

Hello everyone - I'm 28 and have an FSH of 10. Also have known pelvic scarring from a childhood peritonitis.

Getting HSG privately next week. Getting my full day 3 bloods this week (last FSH was just added on to routine bloods). DH is getting his SA too.

I haven't been trying for long, but very anxious about my FSH and known scarring.

Not sure exactly why I'm posting, but I have a bit of a sense of impending doom about all of this.

Hi @ValidUser
Sorry to hear this - I know from experience how worrying this is, especially when you have some of the answers but not all.
FSH doesn't mean everything (or so people told me). It's more important to get an AMH test and Amtrak Follicle Count.
With an FSH of 10 you're still within limits for ivf on the nhs, and it's only just higher than "normal".
The cut off in my CCG is 12 and I'm 17.9. I'm 32.
Hope that helps a little but happy to answer any more questions best as I can x

Thank you @jemimafuddleduck - I'm in Ireland so it'll all be private. Due my amh this week.

And I still don't know what the HSG will show. My LP progesterone is 35 and my cycles are regular.

So it's a mixed bag but a scary bag all the same.

Ah AMH will give you a better idea and at least you're ovulating so that's good!

It comes and goes. A single FSH test is fairly useless. It needs to be repeated at various points in the month for at least 3 months.

Thank you, lovely people.

Not sure about FSH but my progesterone was practically non-existent

My FSH was 27 on day 3 and I convinced by accident, one time unprotected! I still don't really know what this will mean for me post-pregnancy, it may have been a fluke, but it seems it's not always a barrier to conception

My FSH was 9.8 and I’m 30, that month I conceived and am currently 38 weeks pregnant. My progesterone was similar to yours too.

Thanks! I should’ve said I was devastated and petrified. I made a thread on here about it as my Gp was useless. I had a gynaecologist appt and mentioned it there and the dr said up to 14 is ok especially if you’re ovulating. I never got my amh checked but 2 weeks later found I was pregnant. So I never got to the bottom of things really.. but just know it’s not the be all and end all. Especially at 28 your eggs are most probably good quality!

My FSH was the same at the same age (tested because I had irregular cycles, not because I was trying to conceive) and it worried me slightly over next eight years. But had two children in late 30s conceived in first few weeks off contraception. I really don't think that in itself this is an issue, and if it wasn't for the scarring you wouldn't have had it tested I imagine or thought to worry about it. Much more likely that it simply runs at high end of normal range (especially if you recently stopped the pill) than that you have ovarian problems at 28 in addition to the scarring! So please try not to worry about that too.

Just to add more of the same. My fsh was 12 age 34. I was gutted and led to believe that it was going to be a major issue. We were referred for ivf, which unbelievably, worked the first time. I also got pregnant naturally before the ivf (miscarriage sadly) and then when the ivf baby was 8 months old and my period came back, I got pregnant again after trying for 1 month.Shock I now have 2 boys with 16 months between them.

Don’t panic - you’re still young and egg quality Is what matters the most.

This is so reassuring! I'm genuinely really grateful.

Repeating it with an AMH today. HSG this day next week.

Down to 8.1 this month!

Now for the HSG

Mine was 12 at age 31 and I freaked out! AMH was 8 in the end.

We needed ivf for MFI - I was terrified we'd get no eggs but we got 20 cycle one and 22 cycle 2 so it doesn't necessarily mean there's no eggs there! I also ovulated regularly every month.

Currently 29/40!

Don't panic and good luck!

So my AMH came back at 10.56 pmol (1.48 ng/ml).

Any comments from people more knowledgeable than I welcome!

HSG this Wednesday.

Mine was 8 aged 30 and I looked up a chart which said it was technically normal range but bottom 5% for my age. As I said I still got lots of eggs

That sounds like it could be within the normal range doesn’t it? I never got mine tested in the end but I’m sure more knowledgeable people will be along!

Ilikeviognier · 19/11/2018 22:35

That’s a pretty fair result. Mine was 2.8 age 34 so much, much lower; and as I say, I’ve been pregnant 3 times since.

2 blocked tubes! Radiologist unblocked one on the spot, but other is surgically damaged.

Starting Clomid to get an egg from the good side!

Wow, that’s great. Was this during an HSG test? I’m due my test next week.
