Waiting times at north Middlesex hospital

Hi all, does anyone have any experiences with fertility treatment waiting times at the North Mid in London? From GP referral to follow up consultation including all our tests and to discuss results took about 4 months so not too bad I thought. This follow up consultation is in a few weeks but wondering how long the wait for a first round of either IUI or IVF is? Thanks all.

Hi Betty apologies if I'm wrong on this (and I might be) so this is just my understanding. I live in the north Middlesex catchment too but we we referred to chase farm as it is a little closer, I thought we'd been referred to the fertility clinic at chase farm but it turned out that we just went there for all the tests and then when it was decided that ivf was the next stage we were again referred, this time to an actual clinic. I have a feeling north Middlesex might be same? As when I was given the list of surrounding clinics to choose from north Middlesex wasn't one of them. As I said, I might be wrong though

Thank you for your response. It occurred to me that north mid doesn't do ivf, just IUI, and we'll need to get referred to another hospital anyway. How long was the whole process for you though - what were your timeframes? Many thanks again.

NMH refers to the homerton for actual treatment, if you ring them up they'll give you an idea of wait times.

Homerton hospital has 6 month wait for IVF as a minimum. My first appointment/ consultation was mid April, second scheduled for mid August and IVF starts in October.
In the meantime we went to have a treatment privately

Thanks both for the response.

@Veinarde, when you say first consultation, was that at Homerton for the IVF or still at North mid after you did all the tests and before being referred for IVF? Sorry, can probably just call them as well but thought i'd ask...good luck with your IVF unless you are pregnant already!

Tbh, if the waiting time is something around 6 months or thereabouts, i don't think that's too bad, was just hopeing it's not more than a year! Think we'd also go private in that case! Btw, how was the private treatment, did it work out?

Hi Bettybecks, in April I had first consultation at the Homerton clinic, they basically review your bloods and other test results you've had, discuss your history and do an ultrasound scan. Then they scheduled a follow up aptm in August, then I received a letter by post saying my IVF queue is for October round.

I am in 2WW now, really hoping I won't have to go back there :)

Good luck!

Hi Betty, I also live in a similar catchment area but didn't get referred to North Mid at all. I had some tests at Chase Farm and then got referred to Homerton for IVF. This was in 2015 so just to give you an idea of timelines - I was referred in Sept, got an initial consultation in November, had more bloods, scans etc and then a follow up in January. We were put on the waiting list and started IVF in July 2016. Unfortunately this didn't work but we did have a frozen cycle as well which we did in December. This worked but I had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks.

We're now going abroad for our next round. There is a lot of waiting on the NHS - we are nearly 2 years on from being referred and have only managed to do one fresh and one frozen cycle. Good luck!
