anyone had to deal with a short luteal phase??

Hi all,
After a bit of advice, I had a mmc in February this year after our baby stopped developing at 8 weeks. My oh and I have been trying again since and not had any luck. I have 30 day cycles and tend to ovulate day 20/21 - I am using opks and often get ov pain. I therefore only have a 9-10day luteal phase. I have read this can be a reason for miscarriage but also can cause problems trying to conceive. Last time it took 11months to fall pregnant.
Does anyone have any advice on how to overcome this short luteal phase?? Can I take a supplement to help?
Thanks in advance Cx

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage - I also had a short luteal phase, after trying for 6 months I started taking vitamin B6 and fell pregnant the next month... Never know if it helped but worth trying maybe.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I have a ten day LP and have managed to get pregnant three times in the space of two years (one mmc, one baby and one current pregnancy). I really hope you get another BFP soon and everything goes smoothly.

I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. It is safe to take B6 on top of Pregnacare, but I wouldn't do it for too long (too many B vitamins can cause nerve damage if taken long term, I think). Also better to take B6 as part of a B Complex supplement, as it gets absorbed better that way.

Your cycles sound a bit like mine (ovulation anywhere from day 16-19, with an 11 day luteal phase). Unfortunately B6 (and starflower oil, an agnus castus, and all the other recommended supplements) didn't work for me. The only things that have ever lengthened my luteal phase beyond 11 days are Clomid, or Soy Isoflavones (taken at the same time in your cycle as Clomid, for 5 days - Google it for more info). These stimulate the body to produce more estrogen which helps eggs mature to the point that the corpus luteum can produce enough progesterone. Good luck!

I think I took B6 and folic acid alone, and then when pregnant I switched over to pregnacare.

Sorry about your loss, Lottie.

I had a 9-10 day luteal phase, when ttc while still breastfeeding. Started taking agnus castus and got pg that month - though I had read that it takes 2-3 months to have an effect so maybe I would have got pg without it, who knows! Was also taking pregnacare and an antioxidant complex.

I had a lp of around 8-10 days and took me 18 months to fall pregnant. B vits just messed up my cycle, but I did try acupuncture with didn't lengthen lp but got me ovulating on day 14 which I think perhaps helped get me bfp.

Hi all

Thanks for all your comments - I tried vit b6 this cycle and my overlay ion happened on day 17 rather than 20! Whoop!

Then.....on cd 26 I had some watery red blood once when I wiped so this would be about 9dpo (my af normally starts brown). Then cd 27 and 28 some pinky brown spotting/light bleed think I'm out this month but just wanted to let you know that the b6 seemed to help bring my ov day forward.

Thanks all! Xxx
