HCG injection advice please!

Hello

I am on my first round of clomid & HCG injection. I had my HCG shot 17 days ago and I havnt had my period yet. I do have all of the signs that I get when I am going to get my period, bad pains for days, sore breasts and my periods are usually anything from 28-35 days so if this was a normal cycle nothing would be amiss.

I do not want to test yet for fear of being disappointed but I am sure that the HCG injection forces you to ovulate and you get your period 14 days after ovulation. I do not know if it is possible not to ovulate on this injection, as I never did before I was having help.

Has anyone else had an any experiences like this? It's doing my head in!

Thanks x

I reckon your period is due about 14-16 days after the hcg. Early pg symptoms are similar to af symptoms so are difficult to read anything in to. If you want to know then test - I think you should get a reliable result. If you don't want to know then you could hang on a couple of days to see if af stays away and then test. Good luck!

It's the Clomid that is responsible for whether or not you ovulate - the HcG injection then acts as a trigger to release the egg, assuming that the Clomid has done it's job! However, from memory (it's almost 11 years since my last HcG injection - the result is watching Call The Midwife as I type!), all of the HcG should be well out of your system by now, so you are safe to test and get an accurate result. Good luck!

Thanks for replying. I tested and it was negative but I expected that with these pains. I thought my cycle would be shorter but to be honest nothing has really been explained. Just sort of we don't know what's wrong with you take this tablet... No explanation of what it's all doing or what to expect. It's so frustrating. Oh well, I will wait for AF

Hi HRMC - were you being scanned during your cycle? The trigger shot would make you ovulate within the following 24 hours, but I would have expected you to be scanned before administering it to check there was a follicle big enough and ready to release an egg?

The shot is out your system after 10 days (sometimes earlier) so any result after than should be accurate.

I was scanned on day 12 and given the injection at the same time because I had 3 follicles big enough
