Private Clinics - a con?!

Hello. I've just went for a consultation today in a private clinic. He told me there was nothing wrong with my partner and my ovaries etc and because I was tested for chlamydia anti bodies I could have tubal damage and need a Hsg dye test. He said if the tubes are blocked the only option is IVF. But I asked about a laproscopy and said If they can repair any damage. He said oh yes but we don't do them here only on Nhs but I would recommend IVF straight away. ...is he just saying this so I pay for IVF? And also I maybe paranoid but would he actually tell me my tubes are blocked if they aren't just so I pay for IVF?

Speak to your GP and and ask to be referred to Gynecologist first! I was ttc for 2 years and didn't know anything was wrong until an HSG tube die test showed I had a blocked tube. Then I had larascopic surgery where they so found endometriosis and fibroids. I had the left tube removed in another surgery, then recommended to try naturally again for a few months and only then was referred for IVF. I can't understand any Doc recommending IVF before doing all the tests to find out what's wrong first. The NICE guidelines on fertility tell you what treatments and tests you should be having under the NHs but I would so get second opinion as well as NHS gyne opinion. Best of luck to you. Xx

How old are you? If late 30's /early 40's then maybe that's why he said this

Tests can take up to a year + on NHS unless you are lucky

My hsg showed blocked tube. Had op maybe 6mths later on it via NHS and couldn't be unblocked

You could look into a private op for the above but prob looking at a good couple of thousand

After my op the surgeon was very blunt with me. I think I was 38 and she said if I want kids then ivf will be the only way. You don't have time on your side / fertility drops big time now
