It appears that my DH has low sperm motility. We have a DS but have not succeeded in conceiving a sibling for him. What is there that we can do to improve sperm motility? Anything?

If we were to go for private medical procedures, which are most effective in this situation? Anyone have any experience?

Hi champagne

My BH has recently discovered that he has low sperm motility to which I have done some serious reading about!

First of all, is this his 1st test? A lot of men's 1st tests will show a lower reading. My partners 2nd test results are due Wednesday so I will be able to let you know first hand if we have seen an improvement in a month.

We have made some changes to our lifestyle. We are both quite healthy & fit and neither of us drink very much. But we have introduced a lot of natural zinc, selenium, antioxidants, b12 & vitamin c into our diets to help out his sperm count, mortality & morphology through superfoods such as spinach, kale, broccoli, salmon, berries, oranges, multivitamin juices. We are also taking some well being supplements - pregnacare well woman and well man. In addition to this, he is looking after his delicates a little more, careful with sport, keeping them cool, getting out of the tight pants when we get home from work and giving lots of breathing space.

It's also good to remember that if you are ttc with low sperm count in particular, should dtd every other day rather than every day so as not to deplete good supplies to quickly!

Hope this helps, lots of luck Grin

Thanks so much for all that information. We eat pretty well (I'm obsessed with vegetables and we get tonnes of vitamins) but we're both overweight which needs to be dealt with.

I am trying to convince him to stop wearing briefs and try boxers instead but I'm losing that argument at the moment.

Good tip about only doing every other day - I'll bear it in mind.

Thanks so much for responding. Hope you get good news soon.

If you need to lose a little, I started powerwalking as a kind of effort to keep trim, but then found it's a great stress reliever! Started off just a mile here or there, and now I even do a 5k jog on Saturday mornings. DH has recently started joining me as he was recommended light exercise to aid with sperm motility & it gives us something to do together & we talk a lot more which is great because I need to talk a lot to get things off my mind.

All the best luck x
