Hand holding KLM....been there and it's just horrible. I never used to know when I'd even see another period. Hang on in there - it's worth it x

Sillyshell Thu 23-May-13 13:23:03

Hi KLM, I due to start my second lot on Tuesday. Think its worse this time cause I know what the expect and how awful I felt when the first lot didnt work.

Hope you get good news this time.

Hi KLM, I'm waiting to start ivf. Just waiting for my period to start, I've just started to spot, so I'm hoping it'll be tomorrow.

I'm really worried about whether it'll go ahead soon. At my last scan I had three cysts, one of which we expected. I'm worried that if they haven't gone then I'll have to delay.

I've got acupuncture tonight so I'm going to ask him to focus on getting the cysts to go! And to relax me!

Do you know what protocol you'll be on? I'm going to be on a short flare protocol.

Best wishes to all of you going through this. DS1 is a precious IVF baby - conceived on my 3rd cycle. I wish you all the luck in the world x

KLM1985 Thu 23-May-13 14:41:03

EeyoreIsh - Ive been doing acupuncture I so feel it works.

Long cycle there is so much to take in but im the same due on any day on so lets hope they accept us this time! Fed up of waiting.

Sillyshell - Good luck.

DomesticCEO - Amazing news it shows it is so worth it.

EeyoreIsh Thu 23-May-13 15:01:06

domestic Thanks the giving us some hope smile

silly good luck.

I'm trying really hard to keep my emotions in check and positive, but given how ridiculously over excited I just got about starting my period I'm guessing I'm in for failure there!

Yes, I like acupuncture. As I say to my dh, it relaxes me, if nothing else! My acupuncturist keeps trying to solve everything that is wrong with me. Today in going to try and get him to focus on just my fertility.

we've got a family bbq on Saturday, but I don't want them to be over involved so it'll be hard to keep schtum! I tend to overshare grin

I've just finished my first cycle and wanted to wish you luck. I remember vividly the CD1 call then the jabs from CD2. It didn't seem real but the intensity builds quickly. Stay sane and good luck!

KLM1985 Thu 23-May-13 16:18:50

EeyoreIsh - Me & my husband have found it very hard & at the moment no one else really knows apart from we have been trying for awhile if I get accepted this month we will be telling our close family which will make it feel more real also don't really know what im going to do about work?

resipsa - Thanks

DomesticCEO Thu 23-May-13 18:58:14

We told most people but tbh it didn't help much as unless you've been through IVF you have no idea what the person is talking about!

I vividly remember texting all my friends after the 1st scan on our 1st cycle and getting all excited cos I had 13 follicles. The first friend to reply said "what's a follicle?" grin

EeyoreIsh Thu 23-May-13 21:15:38

I've been really open with family and most friends. my family were hilarious last week, they had no clue about how ivf worked. And the giggles as I explained it grin

but I want to keep the exact dates blurry as I don't want to have everyone know what day to ask what questions! my friend who has been through ivf recommended that and I think it makes sense.

I haven't told anyone at work other than my boss.

It's all rather stressful isn't it!

DomesticCEO Fri 24-May-13 11:32:53

Eeyore, that's a good idea to keep dates blurry -

DomesticCEO Fri 24-May-13 11:40:26

Oops posted too soon!

Your family/friends won't really understand what's happening when anyway so you can be as vague as you like!

KLM1985 Fri 24-May-13 11:42:57

We said as soon as we know we are having treatment we would tell our close family! I had one friend who has gone through ivf & she said same she didn't tell anyone when it was just that they will b having treatment she is now 14 weeks pregnant :-)

Period came today rang up this morning to request treatment just waiting for a phone call back.....argh!!!

DomesticCEO Fri 24-May-13 15:30:59

Oh how exciting 😄

DomesticCEO Fri 24-May-13 15:31:16

Oops, epic emoticon fail!

EeyoreIsh Fri 24-May-13 18:14:11

oooh klm, that's exciting! Have you heard back from the clinic.

my period has now gone missing! so annoying.

I'm not pregnant as had to do a pregnancy test for an mri scan. I think it might have gone into hiding grin

KLM1985 Sat 25-May-13 09:27:50

Just had a phone call...

Got a teach appointment in June so things are moving on!!!!!

EeyoreIsh Sat 25-May-13 22:38:45

oooh, that is exciting.

I'm still waiting for my period to start. Most frustrating.

QTPie Sat 25-May-13 23:01:47

My period started today and just called it in: this will be my second second - last one failed last month (end if April), so am startng straight away again.

It is a rollercoaster: in many ways but as bad as you think it will be (ie the injections and procedures), but the drugs do take their toll (I was really quite tired) and failure was very rough. So take care of yourself and gt lots of rest and help.

Good luck smile

Hi all,

Know what you're all going through - the waiting is awful. I have a 5m DS who is only here thanks to the miracle of IVF and ICSI so i've most definitely been there. I was 'lucky' in that I was on Norethisterone to start my period before my cycle as this meant that I wasn't turned away when it did start (classed as a waste of NHS resources if they give you drugs and then turn you away to try again next month). Having said that, the Norethisterone turned me into demon woman. I took it for 2 months - the first one I had to have a period so they could do bloods on set days, the second was to get started. This was over Easter last year.

I realise you will all have your strategies for this difficult time but if it helps anyone at all, here's mine.

I was told to do my jabs at a similar time each day so I went one better and did them at EXACTLY the same time. I used the same watch, prepared the syringes and injected at 4.06 every afternoon, lol

I relaxed as much as I possibly could, especially in the 2ww after embryo transfer - luckily I work in a school and it fell right on the easter holidays.

I booked a massage with a very trusted friend who is a nurse and a masseuse and knew what we were going through and therefore what she could and couldn't do - all in a bid to relax

I was naughty, I tested early - was told to wait 17 post transfer but gave in and tested 5 days early. I got a very very feint BFP but IT DIDN'T HELP ME AT ALL, TRY NOT TO DO IT!

Good luck guys, FC for you all. It's a roller coaster, but it makes the baby at the end of it all the more special!!

KLM1985 Tue 28-May-13 14:03:25

The thing I don't really understand is I've got my teach appointment on the 24th jun which more than likely I will have had by next period by then so do I ring up again & request treatment? I am confused!!!!

Kafri Tue 28-May-13 16:02:43

I would defo ring up, they can always fit you in for a teach, it didn't take very long. Don't miss your opportunity - this might be THE month!!
