Following the disaster in London . . .

East Anglian Ambulance Service have launched a national "In case of
Emergency ( ICE ) " campaign with the support of Falklands war hero
Simon Weston.

The idea is that you store the word " I C E " in your mobile phone
address book, and against it enter the number of the person you
would want to be contacted "In Case of Emergency".

In an emergency situation ambulance and hospital staff will then be
able to quickly find out who your next of kin are and be able to
contact them. It's so simple that everyone can do it. Please do.

Please will you also email this to everybody in your address book,
it won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about
this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at
rest.

For more than one contact name ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc.

i dont know if this is a scam as they had a man on the radio day before yesterday[bbc]talking about it and it seems real enough ,id say its agood idea.there was also a ambulance person on saying how difficult it is sometimes they have to go though peoples wallets etc ,and that if they could just scroll though phones they could get details of peoples tablets etc quicker

The ICE campaign is genuine and was started by a paramedic back in April - the London bombings have just brought it a lot of attention.

Haven't heard anything about a virus and a little confused as to how a virus would get into your mobile phone - unless you were connecting to the internet in which case you should take all the precautions you would take on a PC.

The ice idea is not a scam. I have put ice next to my dh name in my phone. It was thought of by an ambulance paramedic in Norfolk. I have not heard of any viruses or had any emails about the ice idea though, but to be safe -make sure you have anti virus protection on your pc/laptop. Can you get a virus on your mobile?
