So the average male life expectancy is increasing by 6 hours a day

so it says on the news (this all to do with pensions etc.)

a) I wonder what's happening with women's life expectancies

b) I wonder if it can be reduced by placing a pillow over men's head when snoring, kicks up the backside for not doing chores and stress on being locked out when coming back at 4am v drunk and having lost keys

so we're all going to be working into our 70s it seems! arrghh!

(that's if we rely on pensions and I don't know many people who plan to do that any more tbh)

dh's company pension scheme is being wound up. Dunno whether he'll get his contributions and his employers returned. (He no longer works there.)

Seems fair enough yto work into seventies if healthy enough IMVHO- when pensions were established there was IIRC (a little leeway for memory appreciated) about 3 years assumed between retirement and death at average age

Whast we have now- frequent 30 years+ retirements combined with fewer under 16 than pensioners (top heavy society) and the collapse of the company pension scheme is unsustainable

DH sees himself as working until collapse through choice (part ime post 70 if poss), my Dad would choose to but cannot becuase company needs to make cuts he's working extra 6 months.

Don't know about me, carers don't retire anyway do that? If I am in work I expect to leave mid 60's but only as I will ahve ds3 to care for as well and there is a limit after all.

Of course there's a whole debate here about freeing jobs up for young people to go into, which is where it gets V complex

think we'd also have to tackle age discrimination in the workplace too. I don't know many places where there are 70 year olds still working!

how awful edam . Wonder what will happen. There's some sort of protection in place for pension schemes when they collapse I seem to remember.
