Facebook - should we delete our accounts?

In light of the revelations that Facebook not only collects/shares/sells your data to 3rd parties, scans your private messages and photos, are you happy to keep your accounts or are you considering deleting them?

If you keep them, will you be more discerning about what you post, like/dislike especially to your children?

I'm not all shocked by what has come out. I do use Facebook but I don't post anything personal, give too much away and mainly use it to keep in touch with people. But some of my friends post so much personal information that I wonder if they should reign it in a bit.

Am I being a paranoid -android or are you thinking about this too?

Nah. I'm not that interesting.

Any third party who buys my details will be very disappointed.

Yep strongly considering deleting it. Just outrageous behaviour all round. I’ve been umming and aahing for a while about it! It really is time it died I think.

You could delete it, it takes a couple of weeks then if you want start a fresh one with minimal information on, I wouldn't put personal details like your real birthdate on it though. Then you can keep up with people if you want but not have your own information on there.

I only use facebook for local information, it is easier to have a profile then you don't keep getting the log in page pop up. I don't use my real information though like my name and birthdate, I use a nickname instead and am very old (over 100)on it Grin

I deleted mine. Mostly because I couldn't get the picture out of my head of pasty, robotic Zuckernator sitting there in his fancy office on a throne made of hundred dollar bills, with a fluffy white cat on his lap, tenting his fingers and laughing maniacally whilst calling us gullible idiots for surrendering all of our personal data to him.

I just don't trust the guy and I don't want to help him profit any longer.

I deleted mine. Not going to make my information available in this way.

I have no intention of deleting mine. I'm aware that anything I put online is truly out of my control thereafter. There's nothing on my Facebook which is remotely interesting anyway.
