Glass bottle Milk deliveries

Just watched a news report about glass bottle milk deliveries. While this is a great idea for reducing plastic waste am I the only one who gave up on milk deliveries after having my milk stolen off the doorstep every morning?

DH was a milkman for Dairy Crest until a couple of years ago. Customers often had milk stolen but once they had reported the theft to DC they were always refunded/credited so they didn't lose out.

If you milk was taken every morning it was probably taken by a neighbour. DH lurked in bushes once and caught the next door neighbour nicking the bottles......he had figured it was her. She was sooo embarrassed.

I tried to support our local milkman but when the delivery wasnt being made until 9am it was useless. I wanted milk for morning breakfast not well after the kids had gone to school

I've just restarted milk deliveries. They insist on somewhere they can hide the milk - I've got a porch with privacy cover on the glass - they deliver before 8am.
Although it's more money than supermarket milk, I'm not going to the supermarket every few days and being tempted by other stuff so I'm saving money!

I switched about 10 years ago and love it! No massive plastic bottles, fresh milk every other day. I love it, but ive never had it pinched...

I've used a local milkman all my married life (40 + years) and have never had the milk stolen either. The milk is delivered before 6am in the morning, so perfect timing as DH and I both work full time.

No one has ever stolen my milk but I do have massive square planters either side of the door and the bottles go behind that. I always thought it was more to do with keeping it cool.

My milkman comes at 4am and he's bloody brilliant :)

Same as above, we have had a milkman for over 12 years (the same one too!) and have never had an issue with stolen milk. But it does explain why our milkman has recently taken to hiding our milk behind our car, maybe there have been some thefts on one of his routes.

We have delivery of Milk in glass bottles and eggs. I think it tastes so much better out of glass as well as the environmental benefits. We’ve never had it stolen.

My dad signed up for local deliveries, but the bottles were regularly stolen even after asking them to be hidden behind the bins.

Benn having deliveries for over 20 years - never stolen, never a problem. Milkman even delivered during that spell of very bad weather recently. Lifesaver as I was unable to get out.
