so, if something was announced in the budget, how do you find out the details of when and how it will come in?

There was a very small thing announced in passing in the budget. It hasn't been mentioned again in all the budget coverage all afternoon. I only know about it because I listened to the whole speech.

The thing is, it will really effect us, fortunately in a positive way. It isn't something that we would normally find out about, it is the sort of thing we would have to apply for.

So, how do you find out about budget stuff, details etc? Is there somewhere you can go to get details? Particularly to find out WHEN it comes in, and if it is applied only to new applicants, or to everyone?

All the budget documents can be found at www.gov.uk/government/publications/spring-budget-2017-documents. The red book (second document down - the one with the red cover) is the most likely place to find the information you are looking for.

Oh that's great, thank you prh

(by the way, I often notice your username and wonder what it means? Is it a reference that I am oblivious to?)

It is pretty unimaginative. A combination of my initials (prh) plus part of the address where I used to live over a decade ago.

What is it? Might be useful for others to be aware of too Grin

it was to do with FSM, and free transport to grammar schools.
Unfortunately, having read prh's helpful link, we don't qualify.

Pity it would have saved us a lot of money.

My favourite is when something isn't actually mentioned in the budget at all but is hidden in the backing papers.... digging through some at the moment for work!
