story here

I wonder if Caroline Phillips has ever been to Paris? She'd need to have the trauma counsellor on standby!

PMSL
24 hour helpline at the Embassy?

Re-patriated with doctor and nurse on board?

Because the French are rude?

It is their job, non?

Nervous breakdown because people are rude?! Good grief.

I know how the French would respond to this. They'd shrug and say "Bof."

Well, if you think about it, most of us would be shell shocked to have our child beaten with a ruler for being cheeky to his teacher - but it's still common prctice in some countries, and their residents would laugh to think how over sensitive we are.

Unquiet - BTW I think you are becoming obbsessed with Caroline Phillips, have you considered trauma therapy yourself?

I can't say I found Parisians any more rude than any other large city.

It helps if you at least try to speak the language, methinks.

i have friend visited me from south korea and surprisingly she told me, how disappointed she was about france and specially paris. she said it was dirty and strange city. she said people in paris dressed not well. i have never been paris or france so i dont know much. i was quite shokced by her comments.
she said she liked england very much. she said she almost turned baguette in paris.
please its not my comment, just in case some french mnetters start bashing me.
she really enjoyed london and manchester. she said british people well dressed, and very polite. when i read this thread i decided to post about my friends comment. after all she may have been in paris syndrome.

The Japanese do seem to be quite different from everyone else. They really do "polite", more than any other country, I think.

I was in Japan for three months and they were exceedingly polite. I can understand how hard it would be for them to be treated badly. They just aren't used to it.
