Iceland has started whaling again: here

As I find the thought of such intelligent creatures being killed in such a foul and inhumane way I would like you all to take some time to sign this petition: here

and email the Icelandic govt: here

Please, please think about the sort of world you would like your children to grow up in before you dismiss this.

god its sick to think they will be using those big harpoon type things to kill them, i know that i eat fish i do feel guilty sometimes even for eating fish but this is a huge mammal killed in a horrible way, its not like we eat whale steaks or anything its only a few thousand in certain areas that eat them. Again the people who do it, see it as their job as they are paid for it and its a sport they enjoy, god its not even a sport!

signed, you can check out the international fund for animal welfare site ifaw , for more on this stuff, it enrages me!

Also recently was in the news about Japan 'buying' up the IWC by giving aid to poor countries in return for them joining and then voting for whaling!

GGRRRRR

how can they get away with catching them for 'scientific' purposes then selling the meat in supermarkets? bad

I know, it is ridiculous. Basically in the moratorium it stated that if you whaled scientifically you could sell on the meat after doing your research...

I think that was probably put in to get the Japanese to sign up in the first place, but as they are killing nearly 1000 whales a year (and that is not counting illegal whaling) it hasn't really worked has it?

They also whale in the Southern Sea Sanctuary which is an area that has been chosen to allow whales to live in peace!

Yes, I have read that myself about Japan. The thinking is that Iceland is resuming whaling with a long-term veiw of exporting the whale meat to Japan - currently the world's biggest consumer of the stuff. It is illegal to import whale meat in practically every country in the world including Japan. I guess we can all read between the lines on this one.

Another sickening thing is catching sharks, cutting off their fins and chucking them back in the sea to drown. Nice lot the Japs.

Then there is the Spanish fishing fleet which comes out and scrapes up every living thing out of the ocean (happening in British waters near you). Our pansy govt rolled over on that little EU ruling too. Is it any wonder that cod stocks are on the verge of collapse.

ARRRGGG. This whole subject makes me so angry and sad. Please folks, try and buy fish from sustainable sources - M&S make sure that all of their fish is from sustainable stocks (and their cod fish fingers are the best and suprisingly good value too).

Oh oh oh, I really cannot think of the whole subject without feeling angry and frustrated!

I want to know what the anti-whaling countries are going to do to try and stop Japan buying votes! I mean it so fecking blatant! And if it keeps happening then they will be able to win the BIG vote that will make whaling legal again... and then what??

Well, I guess they will probably whale some species to (almost) extinction and then the world might finally say, 'hey! Stop!' again, and so the cycle continues!

I have been lucky enough to see hump back whales it would be a crying shame if future generations don't because of some greedy small minded people.

lol, yes I enjoy SG-1. I haven't had much of a chance to sit and watch the last series all yet though. Too many other things to do at the moment.

I nearly died last night when I turned the tv on at 8.56pm and realised that I had just missed the opening episode of series 10. ARRRRRGGG. But Atlantis was on straight after so I got my fix (and Col John Shepherd is lovely).
