Andrew Mitchell: Is Westminster drowning in magnums of schadenfreude?

Just wondering how many MPs are utterly thrilled by his stonking 2 way defeat - both against the Sun and against the policeman.

Seems a lot of smugness around.

Am I wrong or is my impression a fair one?

There's enough smugness here that you could sense it. GrinLovely chap, thoroughly deserved.

But what a waste of £3million pounds!

Apparently his lawyers won't get paid because they lost:

This is funny:

“Three cheers for the judge!” heckled a passerby. That’s the face of a man facing a £3 million legal bill…

Schadenfreude, fantastic way bod putting it. Hoisted by his own petard as Shakespeare might have said. A morality tale for our own times? ( sequel , White Van man...)

He is an awful man IMO, so good deserves this, the liar he is. He should be kicked out of government. I hope it ruins him.

Andrew Neill on that politics show was saying Mitchell should have quite while he was ahead - ie. the other police had been disciplined.

Attack of the Aitken/Archers I wonder and pushing it too far?

Waste of time. Waste of money. Wish people would just behave properly in the first place.

They're all awful in Westminster apart from Judi Dench. And she's not there for long now.

Do you mean Glenda Jackson?!?

Not the same as Judi Dench. Although I'm sure we all wish she was in Parliament, along with Geoffrey Palmer.

Actually, they're not all awful in Westminster. Lots of good, hardworking MPs, including Dennis Skinner, for one, and Tom Watson for another. But there are plenty of other decent ones who just get on quietly with the job and don't draw attention to themselves.

We need to draw attention to them though.
