Scaremongering..... Just listed the worse case scenario, which is being taken into care. No mention of what could happen realistically. All local councils can apply to have children removed.

Can you imagine tho. If it started happening, where would it end?

I wouldnt be surprised if it did happen. Common sense seems to be limited in this country

I strongly suspect that there are many ither ussues to already have social services involved, and there are possibly already health issues with the children. It seems to be a very one sided, almost empty excuse for a report.

Bet there was a lot more going on than the smoking.

I think a lot of parents still smoke in front of their children, in their own home (doesnt Camilla, Charlies wife smoke? Cant see her standing outside!).

You can educate people but I cant see them being able to remove children.

I'm going to guess the children have severe asthma and smoking around them exacerbates it to dangerous levels.

There are bound to be loads of reasons that they may be taken into care.

I am a foster carer- I would bet any money that there is a lot more going on than just this! For example- how did the family come under social services radar to begin with? Someone has obviously alerted them, most possibly that the children appear to be neglected.

i am not even going to bother reading link

however I am 100% sure there will be issues there way over and above the smoking

so, a 2 year old boy is allowed to stay with his mother who eventually batterED him to death

that little 5 year old boy was staved, beaten and forced to eat salt, also died

and there is 100000% more

and space is even fucking wasted on this

I DONT GET IT!!!!

I very much doubt that the children in this case are being removed just because the mum smokes.Hmm

In general, it sounds extreme. But if one or more of the children has breathing difficulties - think asthma, CSF - then smoking in front of them is abusive.

Smoking around children is abusive, it damages their health and can be very dangerous if they have asthma or other problems. She can always get off her arse and take herself outside to smoke.

There's most likely more going on then just the smoking. Because then any parent who smokes would get into trouble or being asked questions and that's not the case.

I'm not a big fan of these social services.

In a way they are good when they protect the children. But they don't always make the correct decision and when a child is placed somewhere else. It doesn't also get the love and attention that the child needs.

I'd like to see a system that they help the parents instead of being a thread that they take your children away from you.
A good parent wants the best for his/her child. For a good loving parent loosing your child is the worst thing that could ever happen to you.

I once had a conversation with someone who was about to loose her child. But she was 100% ok with it.
She admitted she couldn't handle the difficult situation she was in. Her child was going to a better place. They would still have a lot of contact with each other.

She was ok with it and because she stood behind it. It wasn't a real big drama for the child.

The good thing is that these people worked WITH the mother, instead of AGAINST her. I think they always should do that unless the child is in such danger that immediate action is required.

I also knew a boy, a very long time ago. Who lived somewhere else. This also happened because his parents admitted they couldn't handle the situation. He had a handicap.

He was happy in his new home. He saw his parents every weekend. The family who took him in knew how to cope with his handicap. He got all the care he needed. Everyone was happy with the situation.

Just work WITH the parent and never AGAINST them.
It's much easier to help someone that way and so much better for the children involved.

Syl ss bend over backwards to work with parents, that is why children die.

I'd like to see a system where children come first, above and beyond the right to be a parent.

Putting your children at risk from cancer and asthma is abusive and utterly selfish.

Smoking when you have children is tantamount to child abuse IMO. My dad smoked heavily and I have asthma as a result.
