dodgy potatoes?

I have had to throw away a bag of baking potatoes in the bin as they are nasty when cooked!

Has anyone else had this?

I roasted a few at the weekend, but they didnt roast, the middles just disintegrated. I did a bit of mash the other day, but it went into what i can only describe as paste. Today I did a baked potato, but when i cut it open, the middle was a watery mess!!

Is it the time of year? Or time to try to find a different brand?

(they were Sainsburys baked potato 2.5kg)

I usually like maris pipers but my mash, made with them, was turning into paste too! Really sticky, claggy and horrible.

I bought sainsbos white potatoes and it didn't happen with them.

I thought it might be a seasonal thing?

I think it's right at the end of the potato season - that's why the new potatoes are coming in. I usually switch to new potatoes for a while to avoid the dodgy older ones!
