vomity carpet.

I suppose I could find a nicer way of titling this thread, but I thought I'd be blunt. My poor little boy has been sick on the carpet. I cleaned it up, of course, but I clearly haven't been particularly successful. I just used a mix of hot water and laundry detergent, soaked the area, then absorbed with towels. This has worked with just about every other carpet issue I've had.

So, any other ideas?

Yes - I'll second the bicarb, but I left it on overnight when ds1 covered our landing carpet in sick.

It was still stained though so got a professional carpet cleaner in to sort it out. He said bicarb is the best thing to use.

aha alright.. Sadly it's already been washed and dried at this point. I can detect a smell if I get right up and sniff (er, not something I'm doing constantly or anything!) There is also still a slight discolouration to the area. I don't suppose the bicarb helps with that?

Will moisten the area and try some bicarb tomorrow.

I have found Carpet1001 to be miraculous in clearing vomity smells on carpets. It seems to be in all the supermarkets, and I am now never without it.

you dont need to moisten to sprinkle the bi carb on!. if anythign it will be better dry..yes the bicard going on wet could lighten the carpet slightly.hth

seciond don't moisten the carpet - you just sprinkle the bi carb over the carpet dry...

Also cut a couple of onions in half and place around the area- this will also absorb the smell.

Hoover any remaining bi carb after a couple of days
