how do you get the smell of sick out of a carpet?

Euuchhh. I have tried dettol, carpet shampoo and febreze.

biological washing powder in hot water.

the enzymes will kill the smell in no time.

After mopping up and washing the carpet with washing powder let it dry and then if it still smells sprinkle a whole tub of bicarbonate of soda over the offending area.
Leave for a few hours, say overnight and then hoover up the powder and the smell should have been neutralised.
My 13 year old vomiited all over the landing carpet only 2 weeks ago and this definately got rid of the smell.

Thanks for that - the washing powder did the trick in fact, but I'll definitely remember that in case it doesn't fix it another time.

Dd1's bedroom now smells quite nice, but I'm still wondering what to do about the stain...
