Dishwasher versus washing up

Have always thought dishwashers were unnecessary. However our house came with one. (Bosch Hydro Sensor) Trying to convince DH that it is more economical to use dishwasher once rather than wash up 8-10 times a day. I have no evidence but someone might know some stats?. Any idea which works out best?(It also gives me more time with the kids!)Thanks x

It's true that it uses less water, and if it's got an economy programme, then much less power, but I don't have stats. It's also recommended because they turn fat into soap and block drains less.

I lurve my dishwasher, we'd never had one before we moved to central Switzerland, as we don't have a draining board or any sort of recess in our worktop it's dishwasher all the way.
It must be more economical and environmentally friendly to use yours rathe than the 8-10 times a day sink full of water.

(I think my d/w uses something like 11 litres of water to wash a whole load)

Nothing wrong with leaving pots until the end of the day then washing them all at once.

They save masses of time. Plus a good hot wash cycle kills all the germs, so perfect when a member of the family isn't well!
