Slugs - indoors <<shudder>>

Now and then a slug appears in the kitchen, fair enough, it's an old house.

Last night I felt something next to my foot while mumsnetting doing very important things on the computer. It was a slug, on my dining room floor (varnished floorboards)

Is there any slug control stuff suitable for indoor use? bearing in mind the cat/dog and babies? Or do I just pretend I don't know??

Salt stops them completely. You can also try copper wire over doorways etc.

Won't salt them them into a yucky mess though?? Heard of copper rings for the garden, could try copper wire near the skirting boards, as I think thats where they're coming in.
