What should I ask my potential cleaner at interview?

I'm only used to hiring geeks and managers. What do I ask her?

Should I have a list prepared of what I'd like done?

How do you tell if cleaners are any good? I've never had one, DH has always had one (before he met me obviously). But he's at work so I have to hire one, by Friday.

Help please?

I had a list of what I wanted done, then she said how long she thought she needed to do all of it.

I checked her references

I asked if she would provide cleaning materials or use ones that I supplied.

I got a gut instinct that the lady we use would be good - and she is!

I just searched under "cleaner questions" and there were a lot of threads on this so probably better for you to do that!

I agree with IwishIwas I don't think you really know what they will be like till you employ one. Each time I have to get a new one I go through a couple before finding one that suits me.

I currently use an agency but get the same cleaner each week. If you go down the agency route which is handy for holiday cover etc then make sure you will get the same cleaner each week as you don't want to have to keep repeating yourself about how you like things done.
