They are very well made with simple metal parts, I think second hand would be worth the risk ( I saw a documentary on their manufacture)

I found one on the street last night, took it home and it works perfectly!

So yes, I would get a second-hand one, as long as you give it a good wash

You could also search under 'food processor' although when i had a quick look on ebay they where all more expensive.

Yeah, I found they were all quite expensive on ebay, that's why I didn't know where to start. The one you linked to will do the job for me though. I'll have a search around under food processor in a while & see what else is around so I can compare them

I asked on my local freecycle for a Kenwood Chef that just may be 'loitering' unused in a kitchen cupboard somewhere.

I was offered one by a chap who said it was his mothers'. I have had it refurbished and it is fabulous! He was thrilled with the free range eggs I took him as a thank you, though not necessary or expected with freecycle.

It is so heavy and solid unlike the modern day models, apparently mine was made in 1975 and should last another 25 years now it has been serviced - Incidentally, no parts needed replacing!
