Do I have to have scratchy towels now I don't have a tumble dryer?

Scratchy towels are nice. I hate soft limp towels.

But they're REALLY scratchy. I'm worried I'm going to sand off a limb.

When you sit down in a towel after your shower it leaves mottled indents.

Sobranie they are NOT NICE! Nobody likes towel that HURT. .

I will try ironing them. But bloody hell.
If life's too short to stuff a mushroom then surely it's too short to iron towels.

NO fabric softener, but add a generosued glug of white vinegar to softener compartment

if you havent got a tumble dryer line dry on aa windy day and give them a really good shake afterwardss

Alice I have this problem as well since my dryer broke. I decided not to replace it to save on electricity, but my towels are always dead hard! I tend to use conditioner but I've heard that's not always the best policy. Not sure I can bring myself to iron them - we've kinda got used to hard towels now....

I like crunchy towels too, soft ones mean it's time to wash them in this house

Alice don't use softener, it will affect the absorbency of the towels. Try adding some white vinegar to the softener drawer of your washing machine - I've never done it, but it's supposed to help

A windy day would be lovely, but I live in the desert so they just bake to a crisp in the sun.

I do wash them at 60.
Will try ironing.
Will try white vinegar.
Will avoid softener because it's horrid gloopy stuff that serves no purpose and makes us all a bit itchy.

I like warm fluffy tumble dried towels. Lovely and absorbant and they don't take a layer of skin off my shins.
