Housekeeping

not sure if it belongs here, but what do I do with oil from a deep fat fryer?

I just recently got one, and need to change the oil, but what on earth do I do with it? There must be a couple of litres in there....

I would pour old oil into an old milk carton (plastic one with lid! ) and throw out with normal kitchen rubbish. Not great solution environmentally, but definately better than going down the drain.

If you feed the birds in the garden you can pour it into an old container and soak your crusts etc in the oil and feed it the the birds.
I think that some local council's recycling centres take it.
