Cooking oil on the floor

What's the best way to clean it up? DS managed to get in the kitchen and empty an entire bottle of cooking oil all over himself and the floor. DP has mopped up most of the liquid with a towel but the floor is still really slippy. Will just hot soapy water work to clear it?

Also, can I put the towel in the washing machine? I thought you weren't supposed to put stuff with cooking oil on in the washing machine but when I said that DP looked at me like I was mad.

Flour will soak it up and much easier to scoop up using kitchen towel. I would chuck the towel out.

Thanks

Do I really have to throw the towel out? What about the clothes DS was wearing at the time of the incident? (Had forgotten until just now, found them in an oily heap) IS there any way of washing them - sod's law he was wearing new clothes and not ratty old ones that barely fit anymore

I would worry about the drains with the oil going down them. Not worth risking for the cost of a towel.

i did this a while ago, advice was salt over it, clean up, vinegar to polish on top off that and then hot soapy water (was a whole bottle though) smelt like a chippy after wards.

Soda crystals and hot water would work well.
