a really very very stupid question about bleach

Go ahead, laugh and get it out of your systems, I know this is stupid and shameful to be over 30 and not understand this...

When someone says (as they did on a thread earlier this evening) 'clean the tiles with bleach', what kind of bleach do they mean??

I keep coming up against this one... my plastic / nylon / Microban chopping boards look grotty and my mum says 'leave them in bleachy water overnight'.

My kitchen bin gets grotty bits in if a bag leaks, and I think 'ooh, I'll clean that with bleach'

BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF BLEACH!! (sorry for shouting)

The only kind I ever have in is the Sainsbury's toilet bleach in a toilet duck shaped bottle.

Very confused and stupid.

Sainsburys do their own bleach - I think it's called "thick bleach". It is in a dark blue bottle.

I chuck the same stuff down the toilets as I use on sinks, floors etc.

they mean a bog standard bottle of bleach
the instructions on the bottle will say if it needs diluting
it just says bleach on the bottle, not toilet duck for example

"Thin" bleach. Value or similar is fine. My friend uses Domestos that you stick down the loo, I find that too thick though for general cleaning.

I use the cheapy stuff...about 30p for a 2litre bottle in Sainsburys.

Put a 'glug' into a half basin of hot water, then use it for all sorts of things.

I clean trainers with it. I chuck it down toilets. I soak dishcloths in it. I clean grouting with it. I clean grotty chopping boards with it.

Be careful with your clothes, It will strip the colour out
