Biro ink stain

Does biro ink ever come off clothes?
I am asking on behalf of DH, who has had one of his extensive collection of biros explode in his work jacket pocket. His boss noticed and apparently told him off (he is a foreman and should be setting an example ). He would have ignored it otherwise.
Jacket is washable - it's only a workwear thing with loads of pockets. Does he need to order a new one?

You need to use a special stain remover, bothh dylon & stain devils make one for ink that works really well. i just put the stuff on, work it in with my finger nail, bung in the wash.

Thanks for that. I have commandeered some stain remover from MIL - she has a massive hoard of this type of thing which she never actually uses.
DH's jacket is now in the wash. I feel all domesticated now.

Spray hairspray on the stain and wipe with a cloth while still wet.

Saw it on Lorraine Kelly a couple of weeks ago.

Bloody stain did not come out, but then it didn't matter because DH managed to get another work jacket from somewhere, and transferred his pen collection accordingly.
His mum has tutted at him for going round with pens in his pocket, which has annoyed him somewhat.
