I have been on my hands and knees for nearly an hour today scrubbing and scrubbing but the rug STILL smells of PISS. What to do?

I used a washing detergent thing - Tesco non-bio and natural thing.

I scrubbed with cloths, brushes, hoovered repeatedly, scrubbed over and over.

Still smells of piss.

Is there anything I can do?

Bicarb rubbed into the rug, leave for a while then vacuum out.

Sprinkle bicard of soda on, leave overnight and then hoover off. I had to do this with a rug I bought ridiculously cheap at a car boot once- it was so cheap because it REEKED, which I did not realise til I got it home! Might take a couple of goes, but it should work

Bicarb left on rug and vacuumed out. Or dilute vinegar with clear dettol

Non bio will not do it - you need biological enzymes from biological washing powder!

Oh and chuck some cat litter on there as well - it will soak up the pee and neutralise the smell while you go out and buy some decent washing powder!

bicarb of soda diluted in water and vinegar gers rid of all smells!

Oh choc. I just got that washing stuff and was quite proud.

I am erm very quite un-green overall and I thought this might give me some green points.

Suprisingly it does work on clothes but get the jist for piss on the rug.

The best stuff I've found is the generic value range bio powder - it comes in a small box from any supermarket, isn't offensive smelling and you can dissolve it in boiling water, cool it then sponge it on, then leave it an vac it out (this is important) when it's dry.

If you have time, pressing on the smelly area while it's wet with the washing powder will transfer the wee onto the towel or cloth and then you just lob that into the wash.
