I have just bought osme curtains for the boys room in preparation for the winter. DP has told me I shouldn't have wasted my money and instead I should have bought them a decent duvet each. He rekons they are thin things. I honestly didn't give it a thought and honestly can't remember the last time I bought new ones for the boys .

Where can I get cheapish decent duvets from, and what tog should I be buying for the winter in a draughty house that dosen't heat well upstairs?

Also how often do I need to buy new ones, I think it's got to have been at least 6 years or more they've had them

I always buy 13.5 tog. Recently my ds started to complain of being cold in bed, so I bought him a new one, and even though it is the same tog, it's a lot fluffier and warmer. I guess they lose their effectivness after a few years. (or at least the cheap ones I buy do anyway). Saw some fairly good price in Tesco yesterday.

I just got DS a 13.5 tog single in Matalan for £6.

I buy 4 seasons from the duvet and pillow warehouse or from IKEA, so ds can have a 9 tog in autumn and then a 13.5 when it's really cold, and a 4.5 in the summer.

The down and feather ones are dearer but I think they hold the heat much better. We have one, but not the DDS
