sticky swimming costume - help!

On removing the gusset sticker from my daughter's new swimming costume, I now can't seem to stop it being sticky (the gusset, that is)! I have vague memories of maybe being able to use alcohol? But even then, can't imagine a glass of pinot grigio is going to help much (except me, maybe). Please help!

Maybe a more "neat" alcohol, such as vodka??

Sticky stuff like that usually comes off with white spirit or "nail varnish remover"!! However, I wouldn't like to say what would happen to fabric if you did this. Sorry.
