Anyone?

Glasses first, cooking pans last.

I do that, but is there more to it?

I know this because I am a sadsackofshit-- good housewife. Its the order in which things 'touch your mouth'. So cutlery and cups/glasses first and then plates etc and pans last. Try telling DH though

Ooh that crossing out didn't work too well.

is there an order?

It's not how dh and kids balance stuff on counter, and whichever is likely to fall first goes in first then??

Def glasses first, pans last. My ex-dp used to wash pans first, so we'd end up with greasy glasses. He'd also tip old coffee etc into the wash water so it was very dirty, very quickly.

glasses cutlery cups or mugs side plates then cleanest first fo other dishes and plates then pots and greasy dishes last by which time you may have changed the water anyway

It's not very green, but I wash any dishes by hand under running water so it doesn't matter what order you do it in.

Back in the 70's we were taught this in Domestic Science. Just what you and everyone else has said. Glassware, Cutlery, Plates, Pans last.
