Cost of grass cut?

Hi. Does any one have advice on cost of gardeners? If they charge per job or by the hour? I am an end terrace which is a pain as I have a fairly big bit of lawn running alongside the side of the house. I generally have time to mow it but on weeks where I'm mega busy working looking after the house, two demanding children etc it would be useful if I could get someone in to do it. This is not me been lazy I work every day and am constantly running round doing jobs when not working. It's just sometimes I'm exhausted and it would be good to have some help for the jobs I struggle with. Someone quoted me 35 pounds which I thought was bit excessive for a 15 minute job. (Would take me longer as I haven't got the best mower and it's on a slant and kills my back). I spoke to my friend who works full time and has a Hugh garden and not much time to tend to it and he pays 20 pounds an hour. Sorry for long boring post if anyone could give me advice it would be great. I'm in Stoke On trent area

If you've already got a mower why not just ask a neighbours teenager if they want to to earn a tenner. It's an easy enough job to do in less than half an hour.

I get my grass cut once a month and it costs me £15

It is roughly the same size as your picture.

Hope this helps.

Where did you find your gardeners? Did you use check a trade or something like that?

If you have a local community Facebook page I’d ask there for recommendations. Mine is a bit bigger than that and we pay £20.

This. It's not a big piece of lawn yet you'll be paying a gardener's minimum tariff to account for their travel time and the hassle of setting up their mower / packing away etc. (in our area that's a 2hr minimum charge (£20/hr) but we're quite rural; if you find someone who already works in your area it maybe cheaper if they can tag it onto another job they're doing locally).

Definitely see if a local teen will whizz your Flymo round for a few quid instead.

Ours is about that size.
£12 cash in hand, randomly about once every 10 days between March - Sept. Local bloke from Facebook. He takes the cuttings away and makes compost from them (which he sells). I found him when he was working next door.

Do you have a local Facebook group? I found mine through there.

I must be looking in the wrong places as people on Facebook are charging 25 minimum. I used to have a guy who would do this bit and the front patch for twenty but he is unreliable. 4 times out of 5 he would make an excuse or he would say he was coming and then just not turn up and offer no explanation.
