Cleaning list?

I've hired a cleaner since lockdown eased, and I'm feeling a bit underwhelmed to be honest. I pay for 3h a week, and it's a small 2 bed (shower, open plan kitchen / living room) but she only does one out of the two bedrooms

Am I not leaving her enough time? What does your cleaner get through in this time? E.g. she cleans round things but not under them (sofa / table / kitchen things on the side, like bread bin)

Sounds like laziness tbh

She sounds slow. I’d expect her to do the whole flat thoroughly in 3 hours.

It feels really slow. I'm just a bit disappointed as I wanted to come home and it feel 'clean' - she does strange things like stamp my toilet paper with water, but doesn't clean marks off the skirting board. Sad

@Thecobwebsarewinning what would you define as thoroughly? Thinking if I give a list of all the jobs for her to work through that may get better results! Currently I'm not too sure what she actually does.... Blush

I would definitely expect her to be moving things off the work surface and cleaning that properly. Not necessarily vacc’ing under the sofa every week, maybe once a month, dusting and hoovering throughout including edges every week. Thorough clean of shower screens, bath, loo. Mopping all hard floors.

Christ, I live in a big house and it doesn’t take me 3 hours!
She absolutely should be cleaning under things and has plenty of time to do all of the rooms.

I used to have a cleaning business and it is damned hard work if done properly.
I suggest you tell her what you expect from her and not leave it too long or she will think you are being awkward.
Nip it in the bud now and give her a list of what you want. If she does not comply then find another who will

One thing which used to annoy the hell out of me was being left to do the washing up. You don't hire a cleaner for that. You hire a cleaner to clean

What do you mean by " stamps your toilet roll with water"?!

@Grandadwasthatyou it’s a mrs hinch thing. Weird stamps on the toilet paper made from pressing it on the end of the tap.

I don't leave the washing up (though some times I have left a mug in the bedroom... which she then washes up)

I'll pull together a list. What are the things that make your place feel clean?
