Hi,

Our last two dishwashers - a hotpoint followed by a Bosch only lasted about 2 1/2 years each (conveniently just beyond their warranty). We tried to get the Bosch fixed but no joy! We want to buy a new dishwasher this week but definitely want a reliable one. We are also even considering getting an extended warranty. Our budget is up to around £450. The bloke who came to repair the Bosch said that Zanussi are quite reliable however we've never owned any of their appliances. I want to get this right as this year we have had to replace the washing machine, oven and fridge freezer!

Any advice would be massively appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have John Lewis own brand washing machine and dishwasher, they are both brilliant. The dishwasher is 5 years old and still going strong.

I bought a basic Miele 6 years ago, it was a tiny bit over budget but came with a 5 year warranty. I had someone out once for something small a few years ago and then a ordered a new sprinkler arm (less than £20) recently. Other than that is has been as good as gold. It’s often on twice a day. It’s been worth every penny.

We've had Neff and been really pleased. I think it was about £470 5 years ago so should be within your price range.

I'm getting a new dishwasher delivered tomorrow, a Miele. My last one was also a Miele and lasted 19 years. Worth the money.

I'm on my second Miele dishwasher. Nearly all their models have a cutlery tray at the top (waist height) rather than a basket. It is quiet to run. The previous one was about 15 years old.

I'm only going to mention it now because I think I'm up to date with all my kitchen stuff, but Miele have an outlet store/warehouse for their old demo/refurbished machines. Much of the stock has just been opened for the sales staff/engineers to look at.

You used to have to visit Miele in Abingdon to purchase, but they now accept phone orders. They have several machines for under £500.

I inherited an integrated dishwasher when I moved. When he was fittings new job my local repair man told me to look after my dishwasher because the inside is formed from one piece of steel.

That was the norm 14 years ago but is only found on dishwashers at the top end of ranges these days - he said that he had seen loads where the seal between the two pieces fails not long after warranty.

No idea on current models but Bosch and Neff have always served me very well.

I bought the cheapest dishwasher I could find. It's a beko and hasn't once let me down in ten years. I think it cost a little over £200

Thanks everyone. I've gone a bit rogue and opted for a "Blomberg"......fingers crossed it lasts!
