electricity bill -- is this for real??

I just got a bill for almost £600 for 3.5 months. I have a two bedroom flat in london with one tv and one computer. I do use the washer/dryer every few days but I rarely use the dishwasher. We don't have any other major electrical items. Does this sound right?? This is only my second bill (moved in recently) but it's 2X as much as my first, which seemed high to me too! Does anyone mind letting me know what you pay for sake of comparison? BTW, we have EDF.

Is your bill estimated or from an actual reading. Check your meter reading against the bill to see if its close as your bill does sound very high. Check your last bill as well, if it was your first bill the starting reading should match with the one you gave them, your last bill could be estimated as well. If this is the case, ring them with the actual reading and they will send you a revised bill. If both bills were from actual readings get them to send someone to check the meter is working properly and that you are not connected to your neighbours supply. Hope this makes sense and is of some help!

Sounds scary! Our electric bill for 2 months was £40!

That seems high. Your heating and hot water aren't from the electricity? Is it a new flat, any chance you are paying the electricity for your neighbours or something?
I'd also check the meter readings, obviously.

Dryers do use a lot of electricity (far more than the washing machine or the dishwasher), I think, but this still sounds like a lot.
