Cleaning cheats

What are the things you do to make the housework easier?

I spray sides, the oven, tables, sinks etc. Down and put bleach in the toilet then leave for half hour before cleaning (wipes off anything straight away)

I soak the dishes with boiling hot water and leave until it's cool enough for my hands which makes it much easier.

I Hoover then wipe up any blotches of spilt milk etc. BEFORE mopping as it makes it quicker and easier

Is there any other "cheats" I could use or things to speed up the process? Love a nice clean house but hate spending too much time over it.

Run a sponge around the bath before you get out of it, and you will only have to clean it properly every few months.

Do a deep-clean every so often (of the house, I mean, not just the bath), and then ignore it the rest of the time.

Have dark grey floorcovering in the kitchen, and then you hardly ever have to clean the kitchen floor (I discovered that one by accident).

Have more interesting and important things to do than cleaning. Learn to ignore it, unless it really, really needs doing.

I shower the bath down once I'm done so that helps. I think I am in good habits and so are my kids so that helps but I refuse to spend more than 30mins a day cleaning. That's 3.5 hours a week! If I was spending double that that could be a day's paid work I'm losing out on 😂

I bring a bucket and mop up to do the shower and bath. Sometimes bleach, sometimes flash.
It’s so quick to run the mop around the walls floor and then bath, leave for a quick soak while I clean the sink and toilet (not with mop obviously) and rinse off.
Then a quick rub around the floor and job done

I also sort the washing straight into washes in the cupboard instead of letting it get muddled saves so much time and hassle.

My best cleaning cheat is lower your standards.
Other than that I like to keep things minimal and organised so it doesn’t take me too long to clean. I love my hand held hoover makes hoovering so much easier. I do small things regularly rather than one big clean

Minamilisim so you don't have to clean around stuff.

Definitely a little at a time not one big clean. I think I am lucky it never gets beyond a 30minute clean at most anyway (plus dishes and a load of washing). I think we are in good habits (put washing into the right colours when you take it off and never leave it on the floor, put things away after you've used them etc.) X

A very small tip, but rather than use a cloth and keep rinsing it out, have a pile of them. When the cloth gets mucky, just grab another. Bung them all in the machine after. Concentrate your time on the cleaning, not rinsing out the cloths.

We have a scraper in the shower to scrape the water off the glass sides and doors after use, prevents limescale build up so they stay looking clean for longer.

Like the cloth tip as had never considered putting them in the machine and soak them in hot soapy water instead and have toilet wipes which seem very wasteful even though I use them minimally.,.

Put the laundry on first thing while you have breakfast / morning coffee and clear the dishes - gets it out the way early and just takes five minutes to hang to dry once the dishes are done, you barely notice you spent time on it that way.

Put bleach down the loo every night before you go to bed (pour in a circle from the top rim) flush in the morning, means you only have to clean properly once a week, the bleach soak gets rid of everything.
