How do you clean/ polish a galvanised bin?

You know the ones, generally outdoor but you can get small ones for indoor that stay shiny for longer.

I've got one of each and am looking at them with a jaundiced eye. They need cleaning and the outdoor one could do with looking shiny again but I don't know how to do it. Google is not good on this.

Has anyone mastered this art?

May I suggest baby oil, as that is what is good on steel?
Never cleaned one, I'm afraid, but it is good on vile cooker hoods etc.
People with children often have some hanging around from when their DC were babies, so it's not usually a problem to try out, as there's no cost involved.

If you type in ‘how to clean galvanized steel’ you should get loads of answers. It might be the difference in spelling. Tbf I was spelling it with a ‘s’ instead of a ‘z’ at first.

P.s you e more patience than me. I’m trying to work up the incentive to clean the kitchen worktop. 😊

Arf. But I'm not sure the bin is steel.

Are they made of steel? It doesn't say. I thought it might be aluminium and I have no idea if that's different.
