Has anyone tried an 'electric floor sweeper'?

I've just come across these and think they look really handy for quick clean ups between hoovering. I'd been toying with a cordless Dyson but can't bring myself to spend that much money.

This is the sort of thing I'm talking about (though other people make them too)

Are they any good?

I have one of those, I rarely get the larger vacuum out at all. Can use on hard floors or carpet. Works really well imo.

I have one, well I did but I gave it to my mother who also doesn't use it.

Biggest waste of money- we only have wood floors and rugs though, maybe they'd do better in carpets? I found it was quicker and more efficient to sweep or hoover, the gtech took longer and didn't do as good a job.

I have a gtech rechargeable sweeper (had for years) and the cordless vacuum. I've found the sweeper great for a quick sweep around my wood floors. I always find using a broom creats more dust as you're moving it around and it settles elsewhere rather than sweeping over it at instantly brushing it up. I also have a robot vac which is really handy as it's on a timer and just gets on with it. Neither are 100% efficient but keep on top of it all between a full vacuum once a week.
