Scented candles....recommendations...please please

Help! I love a strong smelling scented candle that actually has a strong fragrance. My house is full of so called scented candles that actually do not smell of anything. Please can any one recommend any particular candles.

I got an electric wax burner which I love. I get wax from various places. I have it on a timer socket and never need to worry about forgetting to blow out the candle!

Not sure if it's to your taste but jo malone's pomegranate noir smells amazing/ strong. An expensive treat!

Either the old faithful jo Malone (pomegranate noir is my fave) or my newly discovered treat naom candles, they only need to be lit for about 30 minutes to keep a gorgeous smell wafting for hours x

Thanks for the ideas. It's my birthday coming up and they are all going on the list! Had one great candle from Jo Malone (the Basil and Neroli) but Basil and Lime a bit insipid. Daily lurker: which specific Neom one, which flavour? Also going to put wax burner on list now too. Keep the ideas coming please!

The white company do lovely candles, Seychelles and cassis are nice. The scent lasts and not as eye-wateringly expensive as jo malone. They are usually on my birthday / Christmas list - don't know anyone who would fork out for a JM for me

Depends what you're able to afford persuade someone to treat you to, but this remains a favourite. The 70g (£20) still manages to scent for ages after extinguishing.

Due to budget constraints, I rely on Xmas gift, light it just for 20mins before friends visit, hide it when blown out, and then use lots of regular, cheap (unfragranced) candles for the rest of the evening's atmosphere. Always have people assuming I must've come into £££ to afford masses of gorgeous-smelling, classy candles

The best strength of scent I have found is to use a oil burner (that you put the lit tea light underneath) and use wax melts.

Scentchips are fab - holland and Barrett sell them and you can buy pix and mix boxes

Village candle wax melts are great - the dahlia one is currently making my house smell gorgeous. I think this brand is widely sold but I got mine from local garden centre/ gift emporium

Neither option is expensive and they give good scent.

Jo Malone reed diffusers are lovely. My mum has one on her bathroom and it always smells good and I just like the look of them. I have the glades electric wax melter from sainburys. Doesn't look great but you can find nice waxes. Yankee have a wide range.

Wax from here in a wax burner. You need about 1/4 of a wax shot in. When the smell goes, absorb it with kitchen roll or pop it in the fridge to harden and it slides out

I think saint eval candles smell nice. My fave is the bay and rosemary.

DW home candles smell lovely. They often pop up in TK Maxx at a reduced price, I think they are an American brand

I was given a woods wick candle for Christmas, it smelt gorgeous. I left it burning one night though and came down in the morning to a beautiful smelling living room but no candle left. It was so expensive too.

I have a wax burner too, I find it is very potent to start with, but doesn't last long.

Ooh, Maximum, thanks for the tip-off. I'd not heard of that brand before. Just looked them up, and really like the fact their candles are famous for having a crackling log fire sound when lit!

Flamingo candles are lovely, I have an open plan living room/diner and the smell really travels.

Another recommendation for the Flamingo ones, I gave them a try after someone mentioned them on a previous thread. I get their monthly box which is much cheaper than buying individually. All the scents I have had so far have been lovely and they last much longer than Yankee melts too

White Stuff Winter is very long lasting, but a bit Christmassy. I've just finished mine from six weeks ago, I just have it on for about 20 minutes a day and it leaves a great scent. I also like their Fig and Pomegranate.

Neom Scicilian lemon and Basil is delicious.

Zara Home candles are only £20, massive and smell great. I've got the white jasmine and the gardenia ones at the moment, but I've pretty much worked my way through them all.

I've got a gorgeous Osprey one at the moment. I can't remember what it's called, but it's a warm, spicy Amber scent. Full price it would have been £22, which is more than I'd pay for something I'm going to set on fire, but I got it for £10 in the sale.

The cracking sound of the woods wick is nice to start with but gets on your wick after a while (pun intended) 😄

Thanks so much for the recommendations!!!! Just trying a wax melt (haven't done this since I was a student which was a long time ago!) and now lots of candles on my birthday list. Going to have nicest smelling house in the land! (smile)

The Neom that I have is 'sensuous' ylang ylang, frankincense & patchouli, it is really lovely
