How do people keep bedding smelling fresh and clean?

Just wondering, how do people keep their bedding smelling fresh and clean ? I've just washed the bedding for the spare room, as it's come out of the wash it smells all gorgeous and has that lovely fresh linen fragrance but I know once it's gone in the cupboard to store, the fragrance will vanish so when it comes to putting it on the beds for visitors, the fragrance will be absent. What to do??

TIA,

Bit of febreeze after you've made the bed.

Lavender (or other) scented bags in the draw/cupboard you keep the linen.

I personally don't like any smell that's really fragrant. I just like clean smells. So a wipe down of the rooms furniture, window sills etc with diluted zoflora is enough at most.

Unfortunately, laundry smells wear off after while, no matter which one you use.

However, this isn't necessarily a bad thing, a scent that hangs around that long cannot be good to be next to your skin on bedding and clothes.

As long as the bedding smells clean, and not musty, is fine IMO.

However, if you want the laundry smell for when you have visitors, then the only thing I could suggest is to take the bedding from the cupboard run the bedding on a quick wash again before they arrive.

Other things are like PP mentioned, febreze, or a wax melt warmer is very good for putting a scent in a room.

I wash guest bedding just before they arrive, not just after they leave.

If that's impractical for logistical reasons, wash just the pillowcases again just before they arrive. As they sink into bed they'll get that "pfft" of Lenor* freshness and get almost all the benefit.

  • Other fabric softeners are available.

Scrap the fabric softener! That's what makes stuff stored in cupboards for a while smell 'stale'. If you don't used fabric softener, the laundry will actually smell cleaner/fresher, after storing than laundry that was washed with softener
