Tell me about your favourite drinking glasses...

For years we've been steadily smashing our way through our mismatched collection of charity shop pint glasses and weird little Ikea ridged tumblers. I'm thinking of putting some nice glasses on our Christmas list for family.

Suggestions for attractive, large drinking glasses, please? Dishwasher safe and ideally not too paper thin and fragile.

Another vote for Duralex. They literally bounce off every surface that DD has chucked them onto. Amazing glasses and classic design. We use them for coffee as well.

I can tell you what not to buy if you want to put them in a dishwasher, and that's these LSA ones.

The colour on the base comes off after a while!

lizzie - how do those glasses stack? I believe you when you say that they do, but I can't see how they stand up??! I really like them.

shovethe holly, I took a picture for you,

They are also dishwasher safe though I always hand wash them.

lizzie - thank you so much!! I sort of envisaged them falling over everywhere, but they look really stable and stack really neatly!

I now have glass envy! Grin They're lovely.

I have THESE. I specifically looked for square base glasses (besides wine glasses, and 1 large tumbler, all glasses in the house are square as I'm a clumsy shit they look nicer).

Honestly? I baught nice glasses and DP smashed them all in 6 months. He has gotten much better over the years but now it's the cat and my mother that break them. I buy cheap standard sets that I know I can replace easily with no hard feelings.
