Hotpoint - cookers and tumble driers

I bought the Hotpoint Dual Fuel Cooker HUD61KS because Mumsneters said it was really good!

Installed on 12 May 2016. On 27 July one of the hob control knobs disintegrated; there was a 2 week delay until it could be repaired. an 8 month extension to warranty was agreed. However on 28 August the main oven temperature control is now broken and is burning everything. There was no answer to my email so I rang - apparently it can be repaired on 5 September.

I have lost all confidence in the cooker and just wanted to warn potential buyers to be careful. It isn't fit for purpose Angry.

With this and the tumble drier issues that they don't seem to be managing properly, I'd be very wary of buying ANY Hotpoint products.

Hotpoint got bought out by Indesit about 10 years ago and have been rubbish ever since. Shame, because they used to be fantastic.

On my second Hotpoint w/machine-16 years and 7 years each -no trouble.
What I have noticed though is that their w cycles take ages.
It says on the display that 40degree Fast wash takes 43 mins-
it does not it takes an hour!
Heard also that some of their tdriers have long cycles too.

I think I would pay a bit extra and get a Bosch or Samsung longer
guarantees. Hot point gives a 5 year gar but it is parts only

So the Hotpoint engineer visited on the 5th September. He agreed the thermometer had broken. He rang Hotpoint Customer Services to ask them what to do, he waited 30 minutes and couldn't get an answer. So rather than have a broken cooker for another few weeks I had to agree to a repair.

It's broken down TWICE before reaching 4 months old!!! I will see what Customer Services say when I next contact them or perhaps a stiff old fashioned letter to the MD might get some action.

Don't buy Hotpoint!

My Hotpoint oven is 7 yrs old and so far ive bought 3 new knobs, 2 elements and 3 fans. I will never buy a Hotpoint again.

Although i have a tumble dryer which is a Hotpoint but its 22 yrs old. I swear they made them last then😂
