I'm having to replaces my Miele S570 as DH has killed it by using to suck up the ceiling he demolished last weekend. We have had 12 happy years together :-(
I am wondering which model to replace it with. Some of the more expensive ones seem to have a lower wattage than the cheaper models and I'm confused!

I think there were rules introduced recently which stopped hoovers having motors exceeding 1600w and next year the rules will change again and we won't be able to buy hoovers above 900w.

I have a Meile S8340 but it is no longer produced at it's a banned hoover Grin.

The lower powered, more expensive ones actually have more suck. Part of the new regulations is that they have to have a minimum pick up level. The lower powered ones all have the new, redesigned motor in them and better tools, so actually pick up more than the older style

Can I hijack this thread please and ask which of your miele cylinders have a roller on the foot? I was about to buy one last nigth and then a review said it had no roller so was really hard to push along carpet? WTF??? surely they all have a roller...

Krisskross, what do you mean by roller? Do you mean a brushroll or a wheel?

Ooh.....not sure what they are. I mean the cylinder between the end of the long hose/ tube and the foot/ head that enables the head to slightly glide along the carpet. I think without one you end up really pushing hard.
