How to get solidified gloop out of carpet?

My son got some play gloop stuff in a party bag a while ago. Left it behind the telly, where it slithered down onto the carpet underneath... Now we have a lovely hard blue stain on the carpet... Any ideas how to remove? It's solidified and seems plasticky.

You can try gently melting it with a warm iron. But cover with a tea towel or similar, no direct contact or it will just get worse. It might be easier to remove if soft.
