Laundry question....

The hot wash (90deg) on my washing machine takes hours.

Can I put it on a quick wash but pour a kettle of boiling water into the dispenser as it starts?

TIA

I can't say I've ever tried it. What dispenser? The Soap dispenser?

If I had to guess, I would say no. Do you have a 60 degree wash? Isn't that enough for most things?

Can't you set the timer so it starts before your up?
I'm a nanny/housekeeper and set the machine and load up before I leave in the evening with it set to start at 7 the next morning, then its perfectly timed for when I get back from the school trip.

Thanks for the replies.

60 degrees takes ages too...

Yes, I meant the soap dispenser little drawer thingy.

It's not what time it finishes, it's how long it takes...are there any machines that do a quick but hot wash, do you think?

When I yse 60 degree wash I always press "short wash" or whatever it's called. I don't think anything needs to be washed for more than 2hoyrs. This brings it down to about 1.2 hrs

Our zanussi does a quick hot wash in an hour

The eco washes are 2.5-3 hours. I set it to start at 4 am mostly

I wouldn't fancy pouring boiling water into the dispenser if I didn't know what plastic it was and whether it was OK for regular high temperatures so that it wouldn't degrade or buckle.

My Bosch has lots of adjusting buttons so that I can do a 60 wash (or a 90 wash if needed) in 1 hour and 19 seconds.

Often the longer washes are more economical, so if that's what bothers you about the long cycle I wouldn't worry. If it's the length of time then use a timer for finish time (assuming your machine has one).

Thanks everyone.

Yes I thought that pouring boiling water in was probably a bad idea!

I have a vv basic machine and it's a bit crappy so I think I'll have to live with it for a bit and buy better next time.

I didn't know that longer washes were more Eco....that's good to know .
