Can i put the heavy duty shopping bags you buy at the supermarket into the machine and wash them? I seem to remember reading that you could somewhere and that it helped reduce the germs on them? (its a miracle we haven't got the plague from ours as some are ancient)

Germs are good though, they boost your immune system. Food tends to come in bags and whatnot too, so it's a bit overkill to put the shopping bags into the washing machine. Sorry Blush

If they are fabric then they can go in the machine, if not just wipe them out with anitbacterial wipes.

Put them in the sink / bath with soapy water and swoosh them about if they're that bad?

I machine was mine, they're fine.

I'm not a germophobe but we've had stuff leak etc and they were looking grim.

I put mine on a rinse and spin if something gets spilled in them.
