My washing machine is beating the cr*p out of my clothes! Help!

A few years back I bought a new washing machine (LG brand with 'steam function'). I noticed when I first started using it that, compared to my previous washing machine, it really wore out clothes that had been washed in it --- cotton tops would come out 'bobbly' after a few washes and nothing kept its new look.

I assumed this might be because the machine was new and possibly the interior metal was a bit sharp and catching on the clothes? But years have gone by and no change. I've done colder cycles, slower spin cycles... different detergent, The works. My clothes are still taking a beating!

Have really noticed it with new DD's newborn baby clothes that start off lovely and at the end of the 0-3 months look like they are about 2 years old.

Anyone experienced similar? Solutions? Have considered washing everything in a laundry bag but seems desperately impractical!!

I know how you feel. I bought a new machine 2 years ago and had the same problem. It got me so down wasting money on clothes for them to get ruined in the wash. I ended up not buying any new clothes as i couldn't bear it and ended up buying various different machines with the same effects. I now have a Lg and found it the best one out of them all but still not brilliant. What model is your machine? I found it helped a little to wash things inside out, to not use too much detergent, to not overload the machine and put just delicate stuff in a laundry bag. I did find some holes was sharp on the drum that resulted in my clothes being ripped so I sanded them down. I also find new machines use less water so cause so much more friction to your clothes.
