OK, so my washing machine smells bad - what to do?

I (actually my husband) have cleaned the filter (not much in it) and also ran it on its hottest wash with some white vinegar in it. Still smells bad....

Any products I can buy to refresh my machine??

Many thanks

did you clean out the dispenser drawer and the bit that the drawer fits into? Did you also clean the rubber seal as black crud can build up in the folds and make it smell?

p.s. do you use powder or liquid? Liquids dont contain bleach and can lead to a build up of slime in the drum. Powders contain bleach and help keep the drum cleaner.

I bought something brilliant in Sainsbury's called Dr something service wash (sorry, can't remember the real name), full of evil chemicals which really sorted it out!

Also check the pipe which blames out the back - it can get quite slimy & stinky

HG Service Wash, or alternatively clean all the removable parts, scrub the underside of the plastic around the powder dispenser drawer to get all the mould off, then run a 90C wash with a cup of cheap biological soap powder in it, and an old towel. All the gunk will come off your machine and it will smell like new.

I will be on Superscrimpers demonstrating this exact technique probably next month. Film crew had to stand outside in the snow while they filmed me demonstrating it in my utility room. I was not the most popular person after that!
